Why wait to send an email or fax? Qipit right from your phone!

March 28th, 2007

One of the best reasons to have a qipit account is that you can email and fax documents right from your phone. No need to find a copy center or fax machine. No need to get out of your chair! Emailing and faxing documents from your phone with qipit is fast, easy and incredibly convenient.

Email a document from your phone

1.   Take a picture of the item you want to email.

2.   Prepare to send the picture via picture message (MMS) or mobile email to color@qipit.com (for a color copy) or copy@qipit.com (for a black and white copy).

3.   Enter the recipient’s email address in the body of the message or text field. Be sure you’re not typing in the subject area, it’s an easy mistake.

4.   If you want to send the qipit copy to more than one email address or fax number, just separate the addresses or numbers with commas (just like you would when you’re addressing an email to more than one recipient). But you can’t mix emails and faxes in the same message.

5.   Now send the message or email. Your phone will tell you that it’s sending the message and qipit will notify you that the qipit copy was created within a minute. You’ll receive a warning message if qipit detects that your image copy quality was poor and you’ll be asked to try again.

  • Please note:
  • You’ll need to switch your phone to number input.
  • The proper way to format a fax number is:
    • US numbers: area code followed by the 7-digit fax number
      no 1, no ( ), no - Ex. 4151234567
    • International numbers: use standard international format
+ country code followed by the fax number
      Ex. +33123456789

Tip: You can give your qipit digital copy a custom file name by entering the desired name in the subject line of your picture message. Just scroll down to the “subject” field and type in the name.

We hope you’ll enjoy the convenience of faxing and emailing documents from your phone with qipit!
Those of us on the qipit team certainly do. So far, we’ve had team members use qipit to email a monument sign from Mount Tamalpais, send a fax from a bathroom, email a contract while riding public transportation, fax a spec sheet from a construction site, email a billboard from Hong Kong, and email a wine label from a table at a restaurant.

Ok, we’ve actually emailed SEVERAL wine labels from restaurants.

Tell us about your most interesting or remote qipit!
