Qipit at the Mobile World Congress 2008 (formerly known as 3GSM)

January 23rd, 2008

Qipit and Realeyes3D will be at the Mobile World Congress 2008 in Barcelona, Spain on February 11-14th. Some of you may remember Mobile World Congress as 3GSM, back in June of last year, the GSM Association (GSMA) decided to rebrand the event as Mobile World Congress, here is the press release.

Regardless of the name, this event has special meaning for Qipit, as it was where Realeyes3D first introduced the mobile scanning to the world back on February 15, 2005. For those of you who are not familiar with the event, it is one of the mobile world’s largest tradeshows with over 50,000 people in attendance in 2007. It is put on by GSMA, the global trade association that represents over 700 of the world’s mobile GSM operators and 200 manufactures and suppliers. GSMA is one the premier trade associations in the mobile industry, as such its primary goals are to ensure mobile phones and wireless services work globally and are easily accessible.

As of January 2008, there are currently 743 Operators with GSM Systems and 920 GSM networks worldwide. Here is a list maintained by the GSMA showing all the live networks and frequencies world wide. It is pretty amazing to see how extensive this list has grown.

Come by and say hello and let us know what you think about Qipit, you will find us inside the Access booth located in the Courtyard Pavilion (CY06).
