How to use Motion Browsing on the Samsung Instinct
May 15th, 2008Since the launch of the Samsung Instinct push download HD on Sprint there has been a lot of interest in the motion browsing feature, which allows you to browse a web page using motion.
As a matter of fact, the Samsung Instinct is the first phone in the world to have this feature as part of the mobile browsing experience. Motion browsing (aka tilt navigation) makes navigating large full screen displays more natural, helping to bridge the visual gap from a large to small screen. Think of your normal camera phone screen as a looking glass peering into a full sized HTML web page, as you move your hand; you see more of the screen. You glide effortlessly to the exact spot of interest on the web page. Unlike pure touch screen navigation (using your finger), motion browsing minimizes accidental clicks that are nearly impossible to avoid when coming into physical contact with the screen to navigate. Once you reach the desired content, you switch from motion browsing to sliding your finger to click the exact link or button.
Check out this short instructional video for more details or if you prefer you can download this handout (Samsung Instinct Motion Browsing Instructions).
Let me know what you think of motion browsing. Personally, I think this feature should be a standard for all mobile browsers. Since this is a software based solution that leverages the phone’s camera (no accelerometer needed), there is hardly a mobile phone that couldn’t handle this upgrade.

I’m surprised your talking about the Instinct on your site…. I just checked your compatability list and the Samsung Instinct doesn’t work with your company’s product.

Dwight - The Instinct works with Qipit, just select Samsung and other. As for the post, we are owned by Realeyes3D (www.realeyes3d.com) who created the motion browsing technology, it is the same development team. That is the connection.

How do I send a picture to Qipit if I do not have a phone # to send it to ?

You just send a picture message or mobile email to copy@qipit.com (for Black and White) or color@qipit.com (for color). I suggest using mobile email is you have that option. Check out this post on using mobile email.

Hi,
I tried the service with my Sprint Blackberry Curve 8330. I selected “RIM” and “Other”, but it’s doesn’t work.
Does anyone know if the service works with BB Curve and if there is a different setup?
Thanks, Al

@ Al Robin - Yes, Qipit works well on the Blackberry Curve 8330, for whiteboards, flipcharts and some handwritten notes with large print. For Qipit to work on documents you need a camera phone or digital camera with the ability to change it’s focal point to give a clear close up picture. This feature is called auto-focus or macro-mode, and unfortunately there are not any blackberry’s with these features, but almost all digital cameras have this feature. To make sure your photo will make a clear qipit, a good rule of thumb is to look at the picture, if is blurry and out of focus, it will not produce a good qipit.
When using any Blackberry be sure to send the images using Mobile email rather than picture messaging for the best results.
